"Dreamweaver CS3 Bible"

If you??™re using a screen reader, you??™d then need
to locate and select the opened panel to work in it. Apply the Keep Focus In The Panel When Opening
option to maintain selection in the opened panel.
Offscreen Rendering option (Windows only)
Dreamweaver uses double buffering (drawing into an offscreen bitmap before drawing to the screen) to prevent
flickering. Unfortunately, this confuses screen readers, devices that help blind people use applications
(such as Dreamweaver). If you??™re using a screen reader, disable this option.
Layout Mode preferences
In Layout Mode, a column in a table can be set to automatically match the size of the browser window; if
the window is resized, the column is stretched or shrunk accordingly. To maintain the structure of such
tables and other complex layout devices, professional designers often include an added row on the top or
bottom of the table. This additional row is sized to be 1-pixel high, with the same number of cells as the
table itself. Within each cell (except for the resizable cell) is a transparent GIF image, sized to match the
cell??™s dimensions. This image is sometimes called a shim??”Dreamweaver and other Adobe applications refer
to it as a spacer. One of the major functions of the Layout Mode category of Preferences is managing these
spacers.
