Connections using FTP are listed with an ftp:// preface, whereas those using RDS start with
rds://, as in rds://myclientserver.
Certain sitewide operations, such as link checking, synchronizing sites, and templates, are not
available when working directly with a server.
To set up an FTP server connection, follow these steps:
1. Choose Site ??? Manage Sites.
2. In the Manage Sites dialog box, click New and select FTP & RDS Server from the pop-up menu,
as shown in Figure 5-10.

The Manage Sites dialog also manages server connections.
Dreamweaver reminds you that although server connections enable you to work directly with files
on the server, you cannot carry out sitewide actions.
3. When the Configure Server dialog box opens, enter an appropriate title to identify the connection
in the Name field.
4. Make sure FTP is chosen from the Access Type list. Dreamweaver displays different fields according
to the Access Type chosen; the FTP fields are shown in Figure 5-11.

The same information used to set up a remote site with FTP is used for an FTP server.
5. Enter the FTP address in the FTP Host field. The FTP Host should be a partial Internet address,
such as ftp.
