6. Enter the site root folder, if any, in the Host Directory field. Depending on the FTP server setup, you
may or may not have a host directory. Often, such directories have names like www/ or public/.

7. Enter the Login name and Password in the corresponding fields. It??™s a good idea to verify your
connection information at this stage by clicking Test. Dreamweaver lets you know whether the
connection is made successfully.
8. Select any of the necessary optional settings:
n Use Passive FTP
n Use IPv6 Transfer Mode
n Use Firewall
n Use Secure FTP (SFTP)
9. If you have selected the Use Firewall option, click Firewall Settings and make sure the Firewall
Host and Firewall Port settings are correct.
10. Set the Internet address in the URL Prefix field to correspond to the site root.
11. Click OK when you??™re finished to create the connection.
To set up an RDS connection to a ColdFusion server, follow these steps:
1. Choose Site ??? Manage Sites.
2. In the Manage Sites dialog box, click New and select FTP & RDS Server from the pop-up menu.
Dreamweaver reminds you that although server connections enable you to work directly with files
on the server, you cannot carry out sitewide actions; feel free to select the Don??™t Show Me This
Message Again option at any point.
