Buttons for bold, italic, strong, and emphasis are
also available in the Text category of the Insert bar. If the General Preference setting (discussed previously)
is set, then the Bold button on the Insert bar does the same thing as the Strong button, and the Italic button
inserts the same code as the Emphasis button.
One physical style, the underline tag,
, is available only through the Text ??? Style menu.
Use this tag with caution. By default, browsers use underlining to designate links; if you style
text with an underline, users expect that text to link somewhere. It??™s good practice to restrict use of underlining
to hotspots, and to avoid underlining as a way to highlight text, even for headings.

Bold Text is rendered with a bold style.

Strikethrough Used primarily in edited documents to depict edited text. Usually rendered with a
line through the text.
Teletype Used to represent an old-style typewriter. Rendered in a monospace font such as
Courier.
Emphasis Used to accentuate certain words relative to the surrounding text.
