The CMYK, HTML, and RGB systems
offer you color swatches and three or four sliders with text-entry boxes; they accept percentage values for
RGB and CMYK, and hex values for HTML. Depending on your OS version, one or more of the color systems
also have a Snap-To-Web color option for matching your chosen color to the closest browser-safe color. The
Hue, Saturation, and Brightness sliders also have color wheels.
To access the full-spectrum color picker in Macintosh systems (see Figure 8-17), follow these steps:
1. Select the text or position your cursor where you want the new text color to begin.
2. Choose Text ??? Color to open the Color dialog box.
3. In the Macintosh color picker, the list of available pickers is displayed across the top of the dialog
like a toolbar, and each particular interface??™s options are shown below as they are selected. Choose
a color picker, by clicking on its icon in the top toolbar, and create the color you want in the rest of
the dialog below. (The number and type of color pickers vary from system to system, depending on
the version of the operating system and whether you??™ve added any third-party color pickers.)
4. When you??™ve found the desired color, click OK.
