All the properties of an AP element??”the coordinates, size and shape, depth, visibility, and
clipping??”can be altered dynamically and interactively. Normally, dynamically resetting an AP element??™s
properties entails some fairly daunting JavaScript programming. Now, with one of Dreamweaver??™s hallmarks
??”those illustrious behaviors??”activating AP elements is possible for nonprogrammers as well.
If you want to learn more about behaviors, Chapter 12 describes Dreamweaver??™s rich behaviors
feature.
Behaviors consist of two parts: the event and the action. In Dreamweaver, three standard actions are
designed specifically for working with AP elements:

Adding Advanced Design Features Part III
n Drag AP Element: Enables the user to move the AP element and get a response to that movement.
n Set Text of Container: Enables the interactive alteration of the content of any AP element to
include any HTML, not just text.
n Show-Hide Elements: Controls the visibility of AP elements, either interactively or through some
preprogrammed action on the page.
You can find detailed information about these actions in their respective sections in Chapter 12. The following
sections outline how to use these behaviors to activate your AP elements.
