"Dreamweaver CS3 Bible"

Although viewing Table Widths definitely helps with certain stages of the design process, it can impede others.
To turn off the dimensioning, deselect View ??? Visual Aids ??? Table Widths; the same option exists
under the View Options menu of the Document toolbar.
You don??™t have to declare a width for your table at all. If you delete the value in the Width text
box of the Table dialog box, your table starts out as small as possible and only expands to
accommodate inserted text or images. However, this can make it difficult to position your cursor inside a
cell to enter content??”a situation Expanded Tables mode (covered later in this chapter) is intended to
alleviate.
The Table Widths features also offers a number of context menus to make table operations even easier. Click
the down arrow next to the table width measurement to select the table, clear all heights and/or widths,
make all widths consistent, or hide the table widths. Choose the down arrow over a column to select that
column, clear the column width, or insert columns to either side.
