"Dreamweaver CS3 Bible"

Where the column width is displayed depends on the table??™s placement in the
Document window.
FIGURE 13-18
In Layout mode, tables and columns are immediately identifiable and extremely flexible.
Dreamweaver puts the access to Layout and Standard modes on the Insert bar. To switch modes, click
Standard to go to the traditional mode; click Layout to return to Layout mode. If the Insert bar is not open,
you can also switch to Layout mode by choosing View ??? Table View ??? Layout Mode or by using the keyboard
shortcut, Ctrl+F6 (Command+F6). To switch to Standard mode, you can also choose View ??? Table
View ??? Standard Mode or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Ctrl+F6 (Shift+Command+F6).

Adding Advanced Design Features Part III
Don??™t fret about your existing pages: They??™ll show up just fine in Layout mode. In fact, looking
at a well-designed legacy page in Layout mode helps you understand the layout of professionally
designed pages by clearly showing table structure and nested tables.
One caveat applies when changing from Standard to Layout mode: Standard table cells without content??”
those that are either totally empty or contain only a non-breaking space??”must be explicitly created in
Layout mode before text, graphics, or other content can be added.
