For example, a common setup is to have one narrow frame spanning the top of the page to hold a
banner and some site navigation; below it is a left frame to hold a table of contents or additional navigation,
and a large right frame to hold the content of the site (see Figure 16-1).
Dreamweaver gives you quick access to a full array of the most common setups when you create a frameset
document from scratch using the File ??? New command. Of course, you can customize any of these initial
frameset setups by resizing the frames or adding new frames, as described in the sections ???Working with the
Frameset Property Inspector??? and ???Adding More Frames,??? later in this chapter.

The most common designs using framesets call for only two or three frames.
To explicitly create a new frameset file, follow these steps:
1. Choose File ??? New or press Ctrl+N (Command+N).
2. In the New Document dialog box, choose the Page From Sample category.
3. From the Sample Folder list, choose Frameset. A list of possible framesets appears, as shown in
Figure 16-2.
