Dreamweaver timelines are implemented in HTML code. For the movement of
one AP element straight across a Web page, Dreamweaver generates about 70
lines of code devoted to initializing and playing the timeline. But just what is a

timeline? A timeline is composed of a series of frames. A frame is a snapshot of what the Web page??”more
specifically, the objects on the timeline??”looks like at a particular moment. You probably know that a
movie is made up of a series of still pictures; when viewed quickly, the pictures create the illusion of movement.
Each individual picture is a frame; movies show 24 frames per second (fps), and video uses about
30 fps. Web animation, on the other hand, generally displays about 15 fps. Not surprisingly, Dreamweaver??™s
timeline is similar to the one used in Adobe??™s timeline-based, multimedia authoring tool and animation
package, Director.
