6. In the Row Element area, select the desired node. In most cases, you??™ll want to select a repeating
node, identified with a plus sign. There are, however, circumstances where a non-repeating node
is desired. You might, for example, need to establish a data set to get the overall or meta information.
Both repeating and non-repeating nodes should contain children or subordinate nodes.
Dreamweaver inserts the proper syntax identifying the node in the XPath field.
7. If you want to review the selected node??™s data, click Preview to see the first 20 rows of data, sorted
into columns; click OK when you??™re done to close the Preview dialog box.

8. To modify the data type for any available column, select the entry in the Data Set Columns and
choose the desired type from the Data Type list. As you??™ll see later in this chapter, in the ???Working
with Spry Tables??? section, Spry has the ability to easily establish sortable columns. If your data is
not text, you??™ll need to choose another option??”like number or date??”from the Data Type list.
Choose the image link option when your data is a path to a graphic file; this identification will
allow Dreamweaver to add an
![]()
tag when the data column is inserted into the page.
