The Spry Repeat object is similar to Spry Region and is used when you want to insert a new
or
tag or wrap the current selection with either of these tags. To apply a Spry repeat region with the
Spry Repeat object, follow these steps:
1. To add an empty Spry repeat tag, place your cursor where you??™d like the region code to appear; to
place a Spry repeat tag around existing content, select the desired content.
2. From the Spry or Data categories of the Insert bar, choose Spry Repeat. The Spry Repeat dialog
box appears, as shown in Figure 18-8.
FIGURE 18-8
To display all the data in an XML file, insert a Spry Repeat object.
3. Select the type of tag you??™d like to use??”either DIV or SPAN??”from the Container options.
4. Choose the type of attribute??”Repeat or Repeat Children??”from the Type options.
When should you use Repeat and when Repeat Children? In most typical cases, they both display
the same results. However, the spry:repeatchildren attribute is more flexible and robust
and is recommended for situations where the data might be filtered or conditionally displayed.
For more details on these scenarios, see the sidebar ???Restricting Repeated Spry Data??? later in this
section.
5. Select the desired data set from the Spry Data Set list.
