To see your data within the page quickly, choose View ??? Live Data. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard
shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+R (Command+Shift+R); or if the Document toolbar is visible, click Show Live Data
View. However you choose to enter Live Data view, you see the same actions take place. The Live Data toolbar
appears in the Document window as Dreamweaver processes your page with the testing server declared
in your site definition. As the page processes, notice the spinning lowercase d??”the Dreamweaver logo??”at
the right end of the Live Data toolbar. If Dreamweaver is able to connect to the application server and
encounters no errors, your data is displayed within the page, as shown in Figure 20-3.
Within Live Data view, you can use Dreamweaver as you would normally. If the Auto Refresh option (found
on the Live Data toolbar) is enabled, any new dynamic data added to the page from the Bindings panel is
automatically converted from a placeholder to the recordset data. Without any additional server behaviors??”
most notably Repeat Region??”all data displayed is from the first record of the chosen recordset.
Live Data view has many more features than are noted here??”all of which are covered in
