Click the Live Data view icon on the Document toolbar.
Only the rental type records are displayed. Now, switch to a different set of records.
9. In the Live Data Query String field, change the type value from rental to purchase so that the
entire query string reads type=purchase and press Enter (Return).
10. Click the Live Data View icon to return to standard Design view.
Although you can discover which parameters are used to filter the recordset, you can??™t uncover the
expected values from within Dreamweaver. If they weren??™t provided for you as in this Technique,
you??™d need to examine the data source to see what values were expected and stored.
Previewing an Application in the Browser
Live Data saves a tremendous amount of time in the early design phase, yet when it comes time to test your
application in various browsers??”a necessary step for virtually all Web developers??”there is no substitute
for previewing in the browser. Dreamweaver does a decent job of approximating a browser-eye view of your
page. However, with so many variations between the major browsers??”not to mention the versions within
each major browser??”you must test your page in as many browsers as possible. Dreamweaver??™s Preview in
Browser feature enables you to specify up to 13 different browsers in Preferences.
