Believe me, this is a major advantage.
In Dreamweaver, external editors can be set for any file format; you can even assign more than one editor to
a file type. When installing the Adobe Creative Suite, Fireworks is preset as the primary external editor for
GIF, JPEG, and PNG files. If you install Fireworks outside the Suite??™s setup, Dreamweaver Preferences handles
the external editor assignment. To assign Fireworks to an existing file type, follow these steps:
1. Choose Edit ??? Preferences to open the Preferences dialog box.
2. Select the File Types/Editors category.
3. Select the file type (GIF, JPEG, or PNG) from the Extensions list, as shown in Figure 24-6.

8. When you??™re ready, click OK. The image is optimized and you??™re returned to Dreamweaver.
9. If the Property inspector displays the width and height dimensions in bold, click the adjacent Reset
Image To Original Size icon.
10. Save your page.
The Optimize Image command is great for adjusting the dimensions or file size of an image; in the
next Dreamweaver Technique, you see how to send images for more elaborate editing to Fireworks
from Dreamweaver.
