Open the Flash Video Encoder settings to choose the optimal delivery quality for your
Flash video.
n FLV QuickTime Export plugin: Another utility that comes with Flash Professional 8 is the FLV
QuickTime Export plugin. This plugin works with QuickTime 6.1.1 or higher to allow video editing
tools to export FLV files directly. Supported video editors include Adobe After Effects, Apple
Final Cut Pro, Apple QuickTime Pro, and Avid Xpress DV.
n Third-party applications: A number of third-party batch encoding tools now support the FLV
format as well. For example, you can convert video to FLV format with Autodesk Cleaner, Riva
VX, or Anystream Agility. As of this writing, these third-party applications are only capable of
applying the older Sorenson Spark codec.
When encoding, you??™ll need to decide which type of video output to use: streaming or progressive. The relative
pros and cons are discussed in the next section.
There is a third type of Flash video output to use: embedding. When you embed video in a
Flash movie (which would then be inserted into the Web page), you??™re combining both video
and Flash animation in a single movie. This process results in a much larger file and is only really useful for
videos lasting 5 seconds or less.
