To set your Validator preferences:
1. Choose Edit ??? Preferences (Dreamweaver ??? Preferences) to open the Preferences dialog box and
then click the Validator category to display the Validator options (see Figure 30-3).

You can use the Validator options in the Preferences dialog box to customize the workings
of your Dreamweaver Validator.
2. Select the languages you want the Validator to check against.
If you validate CFML (ColdFusion) and HTML in the same document, the Validator won??™t be
able to assess the number sign (#) correctly. Why not? Because, in CFML, # is an error and ##
is correct, but in HTML, the converse is true: ## is an error and # is correct.
3. Click Options to open the Validator Options dialog box (see Figure 30-4).

4. Under Display, select the error types you want the Validator report to display. Under Check For,
select the items you want the Validator to look for.
5. Click OK to close the Validator Options dialog box; then click OK to close the Preferences
dialog box.
