Building Web Sites with a Team 31
To administer Contribute from within Dreamweaver, Contribute 2.0 or better must be installed
on the same machine as Dreamweaver; greater functionality comes from working with
Contribute 3.1 or higher.
Setting Up Contribute Compatibility
Like other sitewide settings, Contribute compatibility is managed through the Site Definition dialog box. As
noted earlier, Contribute utilizes several optional Dreamweaver features??”Design Notes and Check
In/Check Out??”controlled through the same interface. For your convenience, if you opt to establish
Contribute administration, Dreamweaver enables all the necessary options with one click, if you have not
previously done so.
To make Contribute compatibility available, the site must be configured with the proper form
of remote access, such as FTP or SFTP. Neither WebDAV nor SourceSafe is compatible with
Contribute. RDS-based sites require custom settings for Contribute compatibility.
To set up Contribute compatibility for your current site, follow these steps:
1. Choose Site ??? Manage Sites. The Manage Sites dialog box is displayed.
2. With the current site selected in the Manage Sites dialog, click Edit. The Site Definition dialog
appears.
3. From the Advanced view of the Site Definition dialog, select the Contribute category.
