For most roles, the right to publish files directly??”set in the General category of the Edit Role Settings dialog??”is a
key defining element.
The third option, Home Page For Users in this Role, sets the starting point for the current role. Enter the
absolute URL for the desired folder in the field or click Choose to locate the folder in the site.
It??™s a good idea to be as specific as possible when setting the home page for a given role
because it makes it easier for members of the role to navigate more quickly to their pages.
Note, however, that without setting further restrictions in the Folder/File Access category, the users can still
edit pages on other parts of the site.
Folder/File Access
The Folder/File Access category (see Figure 31-18) is used to limit the current role??™s editing to the files in
specific folders as well as their options for deleting files. Initially, users are allowed to modify files in any
folder within the site. Whenever possible, it??™s advisable to limit roles to folders specific to their needs; this
reduces user error and keeps users targeted to their tasks.
