Summary
Server behaviors are, quite literally, essential to building dynamic pages in Dreamweaver. Without the
server-side code that they insert, Web pages would just be static HTML. As you begin to investigate all
that server behaviors can do for you, keep the following points in mind:
n Although Dreamweaver provides many of the same server behaviors for ASP, ColdFusion, JSP,
ASP.NET, and PHP, each server behavior outputs code specific to the site??™s chosen server model.
n The Server Behaviors panel is the primary conduit for applying, removing, and modifying server
behaviors.
n After a server behavior has been inserted, you can modify the user parameters at any time by double-
clicking the item in the Server Behaviors panel.
n Server behaviors often have requirements??”such as forms or other server behaviors??”that must
be in place on the page before they can be inserted.
n Dreamweaver enables you to modify standard server behaviors. You can also create new ones
based on the standard server behaviors or build them from the ground up with the Server
Behavior Builder.
