Unlike the other categories of the Insert bar, the objects appearing
on Favorites are easily defined by the user. If you??™re willing to dig into the XML files that define the
Insert bar, you can even rearrange its contents, add new categories, and, as noted earlier, include custom
objects.
Specifying favorites
The menu structure in Dreamweaver reduces the overwhelming number of options found in the earlier versions.
However, the addition of menu groups, such as Media and Frames, means that often-used objects
may require more mouse clicks to access. The Favorites category provides a highly customizable solution.
The Favorites category is composed entirely of user-selected objects. By default, Favorites is initially empty;
it??™s up to you to add whatever objects you use most often. Any of the currently installed objects can be

placed in the Favorites category. You determine their order, and you can even separate them into groups.
The Favorites category can be reconfigured as many times as you like.
All changes to the Favorites category are handled within the Customize Favorite Objects dialog box, as
shown in Figure 1-2.
