Dreamweaver recognizes only one level of subfolders within the Objects folder as new Insert bar categories. You cannot, for instance, create a subfolder called Videos within the Media subfolder and expect Dreamweaver to recognize it as a submenu. Adding new categories The only time you have to edit the insertbar.xml file is when you want to add a new category to the Insert bar. Like any other XML file, insertbar.xml is tag-based, and the tags accurately describe the data. Look at this portion of the insertbar.xml file as an example:
The tag opens your XML file, and the trailing tag closes it at the very end of insertbar.xml. The tag defines the tabs on the Insert bar. Each tag contains a tag that defines each of the buttons in the category in the Insert bar.
